Attorneys Mark and Patrick Curley are active volunteers in their communities and abroad.
Patrick is a key sponsor of the Lophel Ling School, a boarding school in Nepal that houses and educates 80 children of Tibetan refugees. The school is situated in one of the most remote locations in the world, more than five days from the nearest road and more than 12,000 feet in elevation in the Nepali Himalayas. Overseen by the Dalai Lama, the school teaches Tibetan, Nepali and English languages, Tibetan culture, math, science and social studies. During visits in 2000, 2001, and 2005, Patrick has purchased and personally delivered to the school hundreds of fleece pullover jackets, fleece hats and gloves, as well as sporting equipment, games, art supplies, and educational supplies. Back in Boston, Attorney Curley actively participates in the Greater Boston Nepali Community. The photo below was taken while Patrick volunteered as a math teacher at the school in 2001.
Patrick is a member of the North Shore Alzheimer's Partnership, which is composed of elder care professionals who aim to enrich and improve the lives of elders and their families. He is the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of The Boit Home, which is a beautiful retirement home that has served elders in Wakefield and the surrounding communities for more than 100 years. He serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Center for Performing Arts, Inc., an organization committed to building a state-of-the-art performing arts center in Wakefield. He is a member of the Friends of Lake Quannapowitt, the Hartshorne House, and the Wakefield Historical Society. Patrick is also a proud Big Brother to 11 year-old Carlos. As a mentor in the Big Brother program, Patrick spends a few hours every couple of weeks with Carlos participating in a range of activities including playing baseball, picking blueberries, attending a Celtics game, and putting up Christmas decorations. In addition, he volunteers with Boston Cares, through which he has volunteered with numerous charities throughout the Boston area.
